Helix

Branding and promotional materials for HEDERA's debut album.

HEDERA's name can be derived from a couple different sources. This name is partially taken from the latin word for common ivy, playing into the band's desire to work with organic sounds and textures in today's overly produced musical landscape. The "hedera" is also a typographic symbol originally used to divide paragraphs in stories and other writing. This secondary meaning works well for the group's emphasis on compelling songwriting and the symbol was adapted to the band's own playful aesthetic.

The art direction for HELIX was created using paint poured over boxes to create the colorful texture featured on all promotional materials accompanying the release. Each of the five colors represents one of the band members and the resulting texture illustrates how these individuals bring their own ideas into the mix to create something new and original.
