NPR Tiny Desk Contest 2018
For HEDERA's Tiny Desk submission, the group performed one of their funky favorite originals and learned how to turn a desk into a disco ball.
It all started with a seemingly harmless joke. "What if we turned the desk into a disco ball?" One old office desk, an industrial winch, a broken mirror, countless hours of prep work, and all the glitter the hobby store could spare later, the "Disco Desk" was born. The prop served as visual tie-in to HEDERA's funk-inspired track "Stereo" and worked well as an interactive art piece for frontman Chris Federici to twirl over the rest of the group during the performance.
Though this submission didn't take home the grand prize, it received recognition in NPR's official "Featured Desks of 2018 Tiny Desk Contest" compilation video. The band to this day is still finding glitter in their clothes and hair.
